Overview
- The Delhi government announced on Sunday, July 19, 2026, that it will distribute more than 1.5 million national flags across the capital for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
- About 200,000 of those flags will be procured from eligible Self‑Help Groups organised by the State Urban Livelihood Mission to provide livelihoods and skill opportunities for urban poor members.
- The government said all SHG‑produced flags will comply with the Flag Code of India (2002), its later amendments, the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, and prescribed technical standards to protect the flag’s dignity.
- To reach every household, officials said the city will supplement SHG supply by buying additional flags from online marketplaces.
- Har Ghar Tiranga began in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative to encourage households to hoist the Tricolour, and Delhi’s plan applies that national drive locally while linking it to small‑group income generation.
