Delhi to Deploy Over 600 High-Tech Machines in Rs 2,388 Crore Pollution Control Plan

Delhi to deploy high-tech electric road cleaners round-the-year to curb pollution

Overview

  • Over 600 machines, including 460 water sprinkler vehicles, 70 mechanical road sweeping machines and 70 litter pickers, will be deployed citywide to tackle road dust pollution.
  • Each machine features GPS, CCTV, AQI monitors, video analytics, mobile apps and IoT sensors with operations tracked in real time from a central control room.
  • The Cabinet-approved project carries a budget of Rs 2,388 crore over 10 years and is being executed by the Public Works Department.
  • Sprinkler vehicles equipped with anti-smog guns spray a 50-micron mist to reduce PM2.5 and PM10 particles while mechanical sweepers operate on main roads in three shifts per day.
