Delhi to Deny Fuel to Over-Age Vehicles From July 1

Overview

  • Under a CAQM directive, diesel vehicles over 10 years and petrol vehicles over 15 years will be prohibited from refuelling in Delhi from July 1 regardless of registration
  • SOPs issued on June 17 direct petrol stations to display ‘no fuel for EoL vehicles’ signage, train staff on compliance procedures and submit weekly reports on denied transactions
  • The Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation will oversee ANPR camera systems to detect non-compliant vehicles and trigger audio alerts for enforcement teams
  • The Delhi Petrol Dealers’ Association warns penal provisions conflict with the Essential Commodities Act and is seeking police deployment to protect pump attendants
  • A GTRI report predicts a Rs 4.5 lakh crore boost for the auto industry from replacement of 1.8 million vehicles, with the ban set to expand to five NCR districts on November 1, 2025, and fully across the region by April 1, 2026
