Overview

  • From July 1, Delhi will deny fuel to diesel vehicles over 10 years old and petrol vehicles over 15 years old, regardless of their registration.
  • ANPR cameras installed at all 520 fuel stations are linked to the VAHAN database to flag non-compliant vehicles in real time.
  • CAQM has deployed 100 enforcement teams from the Delhi Traffic Police and Transport Department to take legal action against flagged vehicles.
  • ANPR trials screened 3.63 crore vehicles, identifying 4.9 lakh end-of-life vehicles and 25.9 lakh pollution-certificate violations, resulting in 44,000 impoundments and Rs 168 crore in fines.
  • The ban will be extended to five high-density NCR districts on November 1, 2025, and to remaining NCR regions on April 1, 2026.
