Delhi Tightens Evening Festival Traffic as VVIP Movement Expected at CR Park

Police expect a brief SPG cordon near Kali Mandir around 6:30 pm, prompting advice to switch to alternate routes or the Metro.

Overview

  • Citywide festival diversions remain in force through October 2, with evening curbs typically from 5 pm to 11 pm around Durga Puja, Dandiya and Ramleela sites, and commuters urged to avoid affected stretches and use designated parking only.
  • A temporary VVIP cordon near CR Park’s Kali Mandir is expected for about an hour this evening, with congestion flagged on Outer Ring Road between Panchsheel and Greater Kailash, LBS Marg, JB Tito Marg, Inder Mohan Bhardwaj Marg and CR Park Main Road.
  • Vehicles are barred on Gurudwara Road, Bipin Chandra Pal Marg and internal lanes of CR Park and GK-II, with diversions at Panchsheel, IIT and Nehru Place flyovers and alternative corridors advised via MG Road, Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Road and Mehrauli–Badarpur Road.
  • Heavy snarls were reported across south Delhi on Sunday and Monday; traffic officials cited festival footfall, issued separate restrictions around the BJP’s new DDU Marg office event, and deployed additional personnel with strict towing for no-parking violations.
  • Parallel advisories are active in other cities, including Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds traffic and a one-side Sarjapur Road closure from September 30, Mumbai’s October 2 Shivaji Park rally diversions, and Noida’s October 1–2 curbs near Noida Stadium with idol-immersion diversions toward DND and Chilla.
