Delhi Speaker Cites Clean Forensic Report on Atishi Video, Plans CBI Review of Punjab Lab

A court-ordered takedown based on Punjab’s forensic finding now collides with Delhi’s assessment that the Assembly recording is intact.

Overview

  • The Jalandhar ACJM on January 15 ordered Meta, X and Telegram to remove the Atishi clip under IT Rules 3(d) within 24 hours and file a compliance report in 10 days, though the video remained visible on several profiles as of Saturday.
  • Punjab Police told the court a Mohali FSL audit using auditory and spectrographic analysis found Atishi never said “guru” and that captions were added, leading to an FIR on January 7 citing promoting enmity, public mischief and IT Act offences.
  • Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said a Delhi FSL review matched the Assembly recording frame by frame with no tampering, and he will seek a CBI probe into Punjab’s FSL findings and the wider handling of the video.
  • The Delhi Assembly has initiated privilege proceedings, directing Atishi to submit a written reply by January 19, and has sought Punjab FSL records by January 22, with a special session to be convened if required.
  • AAP leaders argue both labs’ findings show the word “guru” was not uttered, BJP figures maintain wrongdoing by Atishi, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann responded to the CBI call by saying to proceed with the investigation.
