Delhi Sets Weekly Ration Grievance Camps, Orders QR-Code Smart Cards

The move targets chronic shortfalls in Delhi’s ration network, from under-weighing to unauthorised deductions.

Overview

  • Gupta’s review Monday set “Jan Shikayat Samadhan Camps” to run every Saturday from May 1, 9–11 am, with assistant commissioners present and surprise inspections to resolve ration-card issues on the spot.
  • Officials were told to issue smart ration cards with QR codes to allow quick checks at shops and make transactions easier to track.
  • The government ordered strict action for under-weighing, delays and unauthorised deductions, fixing responsibility on both dealers and suppliers.
  • All 1,943 ration shops will be standardised with uniform information boards, better hygiene and improved service, with a 2025 order allowing PSU-supplied household goods cited to help keep outlets viable.
  • The review counted 1,547,595 families eligible for free LPG and 1,239,465 already enrolled, with a registration push and Aadhaar e-KYC at district offices planned to reach full coverage by Diwali.
