Delhi Sets Target to Open 100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs Each Month

The push relies on a ₹2,400 crore central grant to expand local primary care, easing pressure on hospitals.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta outlined a citywide plan to build out a network of 1,139 primary-care centres, with monthly progress to be tracked by the health department.
  • Sixty-seven centres are already functioning and offering 12 service categories, including maternity and neonatal care, mental health support, elderly and palliative care, and in-house lab testing.
  • The government says funding is secured through a ₹2,400 crore grant from the Centre, removing immediate financial hurdles for rollout.
  • Officials have been told to use larger government plots where possible to add emergency halls and parking, while older PHCs are being converted and new facilities built.
  • Orders have been issued to hire doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, TB specialists, data operators and support staff, alongside ongoing procurement of equipment and supplies.
