Delhi Sets 4–10 AM Road Closures Around Red Fort for Independence Day

Agencies including Delhi Traffic Police, Delhi Police, DTC, DMRC, CISF will enforce the measures with real-time social media updates, clearly marked alternate routes, recovery vans at key junctions, permit checks.

  • Delhi Traffic Police has formalised midnight August 14 to 11 AM August 15 bans on goods vehicles and inter-state buses on key corridors to reduce congestion and bolster security.
  • Only vehicles bearing authorised e-passes or parking labels will be admitted within the restricted Red Fort zone, and central arteries like Netaji Subhash Marg and Chandni Chowk Road will enforce no-parking rules.
  • North–south traffic will be rerouted via Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road and the Nizamuddin Bridge–Pusta Road–GT Road–Wazirabad Bridge corridor, while east–west travel follows the AIIMS Flyover, Ring Road and Ashram Chowk diversions.
  • Delhi Transport Corporation will station recovery vans at major junctions and divert bus services to New Delhi, Connaught Place and other central areas to maintain public transport flow.
  • Commuters are advised to use public transport and follow the Delhi Traffic Police’s social media channels on X and Instagram for real-time updates on diversions and road reopenings.
