Delhi Sets 1,000+ Chhath Puja Sites, Launches Single-Window Permits

Single-window permitting will centralize approvals, with nodal officers overseeing safety and sanitation.

Overview

  • Minister Kapil Mishra said preparations span more than 1,000 locations citywide, describing this year’s observance as the most extensive in Delhi.
  • Special arrangements return to the Yamuna ghats after years of limited use, with major gatherings planned at Dwarka, Hathi Ghat, Pitampura and Sonia Vihar.
  • The Department of Art, Culture and Language will stage Purvanchali folk programmes at over 200 sites and develop select Model Chhath Ghats.
  • MCD, NDMC, the Fire Department, and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department have been tasked with cleanliness, safety compliance and barricading, plus mobile toilets, ambulances and drinking water.
  • Authorities are also working on river-cleanliness measures at Yamuna ghats, with on-ground monitoring to curb toxic froth ahead of the rituals.
