Delhi Rolls Out Free Power, Single-Window Clearances for Ramlila and Durga Puja

The move streamlines festival permits through district offices to cut costs for organisers.

Overview

  • Every Ramlila and Durga Puja committee will get 1,200 units of free electricity under the package announced on September 6.
  • All required NOCs from DDA, MCD, Delhi Jal Board, fire services and other agencies will be issued via a single-window system at district magistrates’ offices.
  • Electricity meters will be installed against only 25% of the previous security deposit, and the land deposit has been reduced from ₹20 to ₹15 per sq m.
  • A six-member committee will handle grievances, with sanitation, fogging, medical aid, fire safety, police deployment and traffic management assured at venues.
  • Ramlila runs September 22–October 2 and Durga Puja September 28–October 2, with one day of celebrations dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of Seva Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2.
