Overview
- The Delhi government launched 400 electric buses under the DEVI scheme, focusing on improving last-mile connectivity and reducing vehicular emissions.
- These buses will operate on 12-kilometre feeder routes, linking interior neighborhoods to major DTC routes and metro stations.
- The government aims to add 2,080 more electric buses by the end of 2025, with a goal of achieving a 100% electric public transport system by 2026.
- Each bus is equipped with advanced features, including a 200-kilometre range, reserved seating for women, facilities for differently-abled passengers, CCTV, and live tracking systems.
- Supported by a Rs 9,000 crore budget and EV Policy 2.0, the initiative also seeks to create 20,000 EV-related jobs and expand charging and battery-swapping infrastructure.
