Delhi Road Renamed and Statue Unveiled to Honor Bodo Leader Upendranath Brahma

- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has renamed an 835-metre stretch of Lala Lajpat Rai Marg as Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg, near Kailash Colony Metro Station.
- A statue of Bodofa Upendranath Brahma will be unveiled at the Kailash Colony roundabout during the May 1 ceremony.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, will inaugurate the road and statue in a government-organized event.
- The ceremony coincides with Brahma’s 35th death anniversary and highlights his contributions as a leader and advocate for the rights and identity of the Bodo community.
- The All Bodo Students’ Union will commemorate the occasion by lighting five lakh earthen lamps and candles across Assam and the Bodoland Territorial Region at 5:30 pm on the same day.
