Delhi Poll Office Issues Show-Cause to Pawan Khera Over Alleged Dual Voter Entries

A BJP booth agent has also asked officials to delete what it calls a duplicate registration.

Overview

  • The New Delhi District Election Office directed the Congress spokesperson to explain by 11 am on September 8 why he appears on rolls for both New Delhi and Jangpura, citing offences under the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
  • The move followed BJP IT chief Amit Malviya publishing what he said were two active entries for Khera across the two Delhi Assembly seats.
  • Khera denied wrongdoing, said he shifted from New Delhi in 2016 after applying to delete the old entry, and sought polling-booth CCTV to check if anyone voted in his name.
  • A BJP Booth Level Agent filed a Form 7 objection seeking deletion of what the party describes as an extra entry on the New Delhi roll.
  • BJP leaders separately alleged Khera’s wife, Kota Neelima, holds two voter IDs in Khairatabad, Telangana, and New Delhi, as opposition figures called the cases administrative lapses and no legal determination has been made.
