Delhi Police’s MANAS Portal Leads to 16 New Drug Cases and Major Seizures

Anonymous reporting through the MANAS helpline has become a crucial community-policing tool for targeted narcotics enforcement

  • Since its January launch, the MANAS helpline and portal have generated 16 actionable complaints in Delhi that were converted into cases across every city district.
  • Police recovered over 180 grams of heroin, more than 3.7 kilograms of ganja, psychotropic injections of buprenorphine and Avil, and illicit liquor through tips submitted on the platform.
  • Cases were filed under the NDPS Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Excise Act and Gambling Act, reflecting a multi-statute enforcement approach guided by anonymous reports.
  • MANAS was introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah under NCORD and integrated into the Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force, and it is accessible via the 24-hour toll-free number 1933 and an online portal.
  • The platform has handled more than 70,000 calls nationwide and escalated over 6,000 actionable tips to ANTF and NCB units, complementing de-addiction referrals and public awareness initiatives.
