• Vinay alias Mota is a 36-year-old Sultan Garden resident facing 56 criminal charges, including multiple robberies and snatching cases.
• Delhi Police teams mobilised on June 26 after intelligence linked him to theft rings operating in west Delhi.
• During the operation he opened fire on officers, striking a constable’s bulletproof vest at around 10 pm.
• In self-defence, the police shot him in the right leg before overpowering and arresting him.
• He remains hospitalised for treatment and a formal case has been registered as part of an intensified crackdown on criminal networks.
