Delhi Police Special Cell Busts Interstate Arms Racket, Uncovers Moradabad Cartridge Factory

A Sept. 22 tip-off guided investigators to a Moradabad house that held an active cartridge unit.

  • Police arrested Fazil (50), Jameer (57) and Illiyas (65) after a Sept. 22 trap near the Ghazipur flyover, followed by raids in Rampur and Moradabad.
  • Officers seized two semi-automatic pistols, five single-shot pistols and 210 live .315-bore cartridges during the arrests.
  • Interrogation of Illiyas led investigators to the illicit ammunition unit operating out of a house near his residence in Moradabad.
  • The factory search recovered a lathe, a grinding machine, cartridge-making tools, 257 empty cartridges, 354 bullet leads, 350 empty shells, gunpowder, solid brass rods and brass scrap, with an officer estimating capacity near 1,000 rounds.
  • The Special Cell’s Eastern Range team, led by Inspector Sunil Teotia and supervised by ACP Kailash Bisht, is tracing Delhi-NCR supply links and proceeding under the Arms Act.
