Delhi Police Solve Murder of Woman Found Burnt in Suitcase

Investigators uncover a live-in relationship between cousins that ended in a grisly killing and the arrest of two suspects.

A charred body of a woman, later identified as 22-year-old Shilpa Pandey, was found in a burnt suitcase in Delhi's Ghazipur area on January 26, 2025.
Police tracked the suspects, Amit Tiwari and his friend Anuj Kumar, through CCTV footage showing their car in the area before the body was discovered.
Amit Tiwari confessed to killing Shilpa, his cousin and live-in partner, after an argument escalated; she had allegedly pressured him to marry her and threatened his family.
The duo attempted to dispose of the body by burning it in a suitcase after crossing several police checkpoints, initially planning to dump it in Uttar Pradesh.
Both suspects have been arrested, and four teams have been formed to further investigate the case, with Shilpa’s family in Gujarat informed of the incident.
