Delhi Police Seize Over 1 Kg Heroin, Arrest Three in Two-Stage Burari–Bhalswa Raids

Leads from the first arrest are driving a probe into suppliers under NDPS provisions.

Overview

  • Outer-North district teams recovered about 1.012 kg of heroin on August 29 in coordinated raids across Bhalswa Dairy’s Kalandra Colony and Burari.
  • Afsana, 23, was detained first with 300 grams of heroin after a tip-off, and a case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act was registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station.
  • Follow-up searches based on her disclosure led to the arrest of Narender, 37, and his wife Jyoti alias Mansi, 35, in Burari, where 712 grams of heroin were found hidden in their flat.
  • Police estimate the seized narcotics are worth over ₹4 crore, note that the three accused have no prior criminal records, and say a scooter used in the activity was seized.
  • Investigators added NDPS Sections 25 and 29 against the Burari couple and, in a separate Crime Branch action between August 19 and 21, arrested two others with 446 grams of heroin worth about ₹1.5 crore.
