Delhi Police Say Hard Disk in UPSC Aspirant Murder Holds Videos of Multiple Women

The Gandhi Vihar case, first logged as a fire accident, is now a homicide probe centered on a device police say was the target of a staged cover-up.

Overview

  • Police have arrested Amrita Chauhan, 21, her ex-boyfriend Sumit Kashyap, 27, and Sandeep Kumar, 29, all from Moradabad, and say the trio is in custody.
  • Investigators report the recovered hard disk contains private videos and images of several women, with officers citing findings of at least around 15 subjects.
  • According to police, the suspects allegedly strangled Ram Kesh Meena, then doused the body with oil, ghee and wine before igniting gas from an LPG cylinder to mimic an accidental blast.
  • CCTV footage showed two masked men entering and a woman leaving the building at 2:57 a.m., while call-detail records placed Chauhan near the scene, shifting the case from accident to murder.
  • Officers say they recovered the hard disk, laptops, phones and other items, and have invoked BNS provisions for murder, common intention and mischief by fire as forensic analysis continues.
