Overview

  • Commissioner Sanjay Arora unveiled the emblems at a June 19 ceremony at Delhi Police headquarters to mark the units’ professional identities.
  • The Finger Print Bureau, created in 1983, holds over 500,000 criminal records and employs AFPIS, NAFIS and CRIS systems for swift suspect matching.
  • Since its 2022 national rollout, NAFIS has proved effective in matching chance prints from crime scenes and facilitating multiple arrests.
  • Established in 2002, the Bomb Disposal Squad works with the Bomb Detection Team and conducts round-the-clock Anti-Sabotage Checks at sensitive and high-traffic venues.
  • Both units will display their new insignias on official correspondence and jackets to underscore their critical roles in investigations and public safety.
