Delhi Police Injure Repeat Armed Robber in Ghazipur Encounter

Overview

  • On July 22, a joint Anti-Narcotics Squad East and Special Staff East operation confronted 33-year-old Khem Chand alias Sameer at Ghazipur’s Paper Market after he allegedly impersonated an officer and opened fire.
  • Police said the accused fired four rounds and officers returned fire with two rounds, resulting in Chand’s injury and no harm to any personnel.
  • Investigators recovered a country-made pistol with live and spent cartridges alongside a stolen TVS Apache motorcycle at the scene.
  • Chand, a native of Godda district with 15 prior cases and a history of violent robberies to fund drug and alcohol addiction, is now hospitalized at LBS Hospital in Kalyanpuri.
  • A forensic team and PCR unit have been deployed and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend Chand’s remaining associates.
