Delhi Police IFSO Sub-Inspector Arrested in Vigilance Sting Over Rs 2 Lakh Bribe

The cyber unit officer was targeted after a complainant reported a Rs 5 lakh demand to defreeze a bank account frozen in a cryptocurrency cheating probe.

  • Sub-inspector Karamveer Singh of the IFSO unit was detained in Dwarka after a planned handover of Rs 2 lakh, police said.
  • Singh allegedly called complainant Vishnu Bishnoi to Dwarka Sector-14 Metro, took him into his car, and was intercepted about two kilometres away by a vigilance team.
  • Officers said he tried to flee before being apprehended, and the cash was recovered from the car’s dashboard.
  • An FIR has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance police station, and the probe is underway.
  • A senior officer said this is the first instance of an IFSO officer being caught red-handed in a bribery trap, with Bishnoi represented by counsel Vishal Sojitra.
