Delhi Police EOW Issues Notice to Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar in National Herald Probe

Investigators seek detailed documentation on alleged payments to Young Indian.

Overview

  • The Economic Offences Wing sent a notice dated November 29 asking D.K. Shivakumar to appear or submit documents by December 19.
  • The notice requests a breakdown of funds allegedly transferred to Young Indian, the source and purpose of the money, and related income-tax filings and donation certificates.
  • Investigators also asked for any communications with Young Indian or AICC functionaries and whether any payments were made on others’ instructions.
  • News18 reported that Shivakumar’s brother, MP D.K. Suresh, received a similar notice with the same December 19 deadline.
  • The FIR registered on October 3, based on an ED complaint, alleges criminal conspiracy, cheating and breach of trust over AJL assets linked to Young Indian, as associates of Shivakumar dismiss the action as politically motivated.
