Overview

• Police seized 228 forged mark sheets, 27 counterfeit degree certificates and 20 fraudulent migration documents from the suspects’ premises
• Forensic analysis of six laptops and 20 mobile phones uncovered between 5,000 and 5,500 soft copies of fake academic credentials spanning BA, BSc, BCom, BTech, BAMS, BEd, MBA and MA courses
• The syndicate operated through more than 20 coaching centres and educational consultancies across Delhi-NCR and states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan
• Primary suspect Vicky Harjani, owner of Paramhans Vidyapeeth in Netaji Subhash Place and Rohini, was arrested first, leading to the detention of four others
• Investigators are probing university employee involvement in supplying templates, formats or confidential records to facilitate document forgery
