Delhi Police Detain 83 Bangladeshis in East Delhi as Total Reaches 120

Under a nationwide drive launched in November 2024, authorities completed deportation formalities following the seizure of forged identity cards alongside digital records during recent East Delhi raids.

  • Since November, Delhi Police have apprehended 120 Bangladeshi nationals under a special drive aimed at curbing irregular migration into the capital.
  • Between June 24 and 29, raids in Mandawali, Mayur Vihar, Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and Anand Vihar led to the detention of 83 individuals.
  • The latest arrests include 33 minors and feature an almost equal number of women and men among the detainees.
  • Investigators recovered forged identity documents and mobile-phone digital evidence linking the group to Bangladesh citizenship.
  • All 120 migrants have been registered with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office and are now facing legal proceedings that could result in deportation.
