Delhi Police Bust Mathura Arms Factory and Arrest 5, Seizing 29 Pistols

Investigators are tracing suppliers in western Uttar Pradesh to widen the crackdown.

Overview

  • Officers waded nearly 3 km through flooded fields to raid a makeshift unit in Anerda Garhi, Mathura, arresting Shiv Charan and recovering 14 country-made pistols, a musket, tools, and raw material for over 350 weapons.
  • The Mathura raid followed the September 1 arrest of Hanvir in Aligarh, whose interrogation led police to Charan and exposed linked manufacturing hubs.
  • Crime Branch teams arrested arms supplier Mohammad Shajid and three receivers in Delhi, seizing 15 semi-automatic pistols, around 150 live rounds, and eight extra magazines.
  • Police say Shajid supplied gangs including the Neeraj Bawana network, sourcing firearms from Meerut and Mawana for Rs 35,000–40,000 each and reselling them in Delhi for Rs 50,000–60,000.
  • Parallel actions in Madhya Pradesh netted Ashish Mishra in Jabalpur with five pistols and Lakhan Singh Thakur in Indore with nine pistols and 15 magazines, underscoring the interstate spread of the trade.
