Police say drones ferried Turkish and Chinese pistols from Pakistan into Punjab for delivery to Delhi-NCR gangs.

Overview

  • Police identified the arrested suspects as Mandeep, Ajay alias Monu, Dalwinder and Rohan from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
  • Officers recovered 10 pistols and 92 cartridges, including Turkiye-made PX-5.7 and China-made PX-3 models described as high-end.
  • Investigators say consignments were routed from Pakistan and dropped by drones in Punjab before being moved to Delhi-NCR for gangs including those of Lawrence Bishnoi, Gogi, Bambiha and Himanshu Bhau.
  • The smuggling method involved low-altitude drone flights, GPS-marked drop points, carbon-coated packaging and hawala payments to evade detection, according to police.
  • Acting on intelligence, a team led by DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav set a trap in Rohini, made the arrests, and is now examining phones, bank records and social media to track handlers and additional consignments.
