Overview
- The Delhi Police announced on Thursday that nine people have been arrested and 27 forged Persons with Disabilities (PwD) certificates recovered in an interstate case targeting reserved admissions.
- Investigators say education consultants collected students’ Aadhaar data and used AI-altered addresses and forged medical reports to create UDID entries that appeared legitimate.
- The probe began with the August 31 arrest of Lalit Kumar (alias Aditya) and has since led to arrests of consultancy operators, Divyang/CMO office staff and a disability board member across Uttar Pradesh and Noida.
- Police seized laptops, a MacBook, a desktop, 11 phones, about ₹75,000 in cash and a Mercedes while tracing bank transactions that link suspects and alleged pay rates of roughly ₹20,000–₹30,000 per forged certificate.
- Authorities have registered a case at Maurice Nagar and are examining the roles of doctors and the students named on certificates, a move that could trigger departmental inquiries and affect admissions secured under the PwD quota.
