Delhi Police Bust International Cannabis Ring, Recover 177 kg
Investigators dismantled a cross-border operation that moved cannabis in trolley bags from Bihar through Punjab to Delhi.
Overview
- On May 23, officers acting on a tip arrested Rajesh near Dwarka Metro with 6.067 kg of cannabis and later seized 168.896 kg from a flat he rented in Vikaspuri.
- Deputy Commissioner Ankit Singh identified the suspects as Rajesh, habitual offender Krishnanand Choudhary and local distributor Krishan, with a further 2.033 kg recovered from Krishan’s Najafgarh residence.
- Custodial statements revealed the syndicate sourced ganja from Bihar, routed it through Hoshiarpur in Punjab and transported consignments in trolley bags by train.
- Rajesh had served a 10-year jail term under the NDPS Act and was out on interim bail since August 2023 when rearrested; he faces five pending cases in Delhi and Odisha.
- Delhi Police continue to probe financial transactions and railway routes to identify additional members of the syndicate and trace its supply chain.
