Overview
- Acting on a tip-off, the South district AATS intercepted three camels near the Mehrauli–Badarpur/Sangam Vihar forest stretch around midnight on Thursday.
- The five arrested were identified as Vinod Bhadana, Sunil Bhadana, Rahul, Ajay and Saurabh, and three camels were seized as rescued evidence.
- Officers recovered 42 cartons holding 1,990 quarter bottles of illicit liquor and 24 beer bottles, according to DCP Ankit Chauhan.
- The camels were shifted from Neb Sarai police station to an animal shelter in Civil Lines pending court directions.
- Cases were registered under Sections 33 and 38 of the Delhi Excise Act and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, with investigators tracing the supply chain that allegedly used camels bought in Alwar.
