Delhi Police Arrest Two Alleged Sharpshooters Tied to Nandu–Venkat Garg Gang After Rohini Shootout

Investigators cite social media lures behind the young suspects’ recruitment into the network.

Overview

  • Special Cell teams laid an entrapment in Rohini Sector 28 on the intervening night of August 29–30 and returned fire after the suspects opened fire.
  • The men were identified as Harshdeep, 20, of Ambala Cantonment, and his cousin Naveen Dhiman, 24, of Panipat.
  • Police recovered a Glock‑17 pistol, a Star pistol, seven live cartridges and four empty shells from the scene.
  • Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds, were overpowered, and were treated at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital before being taken into custody.
  • A fresh FIR dated August 30 was registered at PS Special Cell under BNS sections 132/221/109(1) and Arms Act sections 25/27, with police noting the pair were wanted in a Chhawla extortion‑firing case and that probes into the gang’s linkages are ongoing.
