Overview
- Prabhat Kumar Chaurasiya, 43, was detained by the Special Cell’s Eastern Range on August 28 in Laxmi Nagar after a tip-off.
- He allegedly procured 16 SIM cards using Aadhaar credentials registered in Latur and bought them from stores in Bihar and Maharashtra before sending them to Nepal.
- Investigators say 11 of those numbers were active on WhatsApp from Lahore, Bahawalpur and other Pakistani cities.
- Police allege the SIMs were smuggled to Kathmandu and handed to handlers who used accounts to reach Indian Army personnel and seek DRDO-related information.
- Officers seized devices, chats and SIM envelopes, registered a case under BNS sections 61(2) and 152, and are tracing associates, courier routes and foreign handlers.
