• The theft came to light on June 21 when the temporary maid, Meenakshi, failed to report for work and her employer discovered missing jewellery.
• Investigators at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station examined CCTV footage and conducted technical surveillance to locate the suspect in Loni, Ghaziabad.
• Meenakshi admitted during questioning that she exploited her temporary employment to break into the employer’s locker and steal valuables.
• A raid on jeweller Pramod Gupta’s Bhogal shop recovered five gold bangles, a chain, two pendants and a pair of earrings while ₹2.52 lakh in cash and 13 foreign currency notes were seized from Meenakshi’s home.
• Neither the 37-year-old maid nor the 65-year-old jeweller has a prior criminal record and both remain in custody as the inquiry continues.
