Overview
- Special Cell teams arrested two suspected sharpshooters in Rohini’s Sector 28 on the night of August 29–30 after a brief exchange of fire that left both suspects injured.
- Those held in Rohini were identified as Harshdeep, 20, of Ambala Cantonment, and his cousin Naveen Dhiman, 24, of Panipat, who were wanted in a firing tied to an extortion case registered at Chhawla police station.
- Officers recovered a Glock 17, a Star pistol, seven live cartridges and four empty cartridges from the Rohini accused, and registered a fresh FIR dated August 30 under BNS sections 132, 221, 109(1) and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act.
- Investigators say Harshdeep was recruited via social media by Venkat Garg with a promise of a job abroad and was tasked by Kapil alias Nandu, while Naveen was lured by the prospect of easy money.
- In a separate operation the following night near Ujwa’s Kharkhari Road, police arrested alleged gang associates Anmol Kohli, 25, and Naveen alias Bhanja, 26, after gunfire, seizing two pistols, ammunition, Rs 1.5 lakh, a motorcycle and a scooter.
