Overview
- The 13-year-old left JJ Colony, Wazirpur, on July 21 after an argument with her father, traveled via Inderlok metro to New Delhi railway station and then to Meerut, where she was allegedly lured by Vikas, police said.
- She was confined at co-accused Ashu’s house, forcibly married to Rajeev in Shamli on July 24, and later allegedly sexually assaulted, with Rs 15,000–20,000 reportedly paid for the marriage.
- Delhi Police arrested Rajeev (40), Vikas (20), Ashu (55) and Ramanjot Singh (24), alleging roles as buyer-groom, recruiter, facilitator and fake-ID provider, respectively.
- Investigators rescued her from Rajeev’s Shamli residence on August 16 with local police, seizing a forged Aadhaar and four phones, and say the ID was altered via a PDF tool at a Ghaziabad cybercafé.
- All four face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the POCSO Act and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act; the girl has been counselled and returned to her family, and police are probing possible links to a wider trafficking network with broader scale claims unverified.
