Delhi Police Arrest Five After 'Special 26'-Style Fake Raid at Karol Bagh Jewellery Workshop

A rapid, tech-led chase produced swift arrests plus partial recovery of the haul.

  • On November 27, a gang posing as Delhi Police and Income Tax officers staged a fake raid at a Dev Nagar workshop in Karol Bagh and fled with about 1 kg of gold after seizing workers’ phones and dismantling CCTV.
  • Five suspects were caught in a 72-hour, 1,200-km interstate operation that drew on footage from more than 250 cameras and technical surveillance across Delhi and multiple Haryana districts.
  • Those arrested include Parvinder, a Delhi government employee, and Sandeep, who claimed to be an Officer on Special Duty in the Madhya Pradesh government, with that claim under verification.
  • Police recovered 435.03 grams of gold, ₹3.97 lakh in cash, three vehicles used in the crime, five Delhi Police ID holders and lanyards, and the uniforms worn during the staged raid.
  • Investigators say Sandeep sold 428 grams of the loot and shared roughly ₹25.5 lakh among the gang, while searches continue for Akram, Suresh alias Jammal, and Naveen alias Kala and for the remaining gold.
