Overview
- Pramod Kumar Gupta, 67, was arrested near Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station on December 16 after earlier busts exposed factories producing spurious medicines.
- During a raid at a Bijwasan farmhouse, officers seized raw material to make over 50,000 units of fake Betnovate, about 600 kg of stearic acid, machinery and packaging, and alleged Gupta burned nearly 27,000 tubes to destroy evidence.
- A Hindustan Unilever representative verified that seized Fair & Lovely and Veet items were counterfeit, with investigators recovering about 800 boxes of each.
- Earlier actions in Ghaziabad and a linked unit uncovered thousands of fake ointments, over 350 kg of creams and equipment, with counterfeit goods and raw material valued above Rs 2.3 crore and two suspects held.
