• On May 27, Head Constables Karan and Pawan confronted two men on a motorcycle at JD Musafir Marg, and Asif slashed HC Karan with a knife before fleeing
• CCTV analysis identified Asif and his accomplice Raja, leading to Raja’s arrest on May 30 and revelation of Asif’s involvement
• A tip-off on June 2 prompted a trap near the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, where Asif opened fire and police returned fire, striking his right leg
• Officers overpowered and took the 24-year-old into custody before rushing him to AIIMS for treatment of a gunshot injury
• Delhi Police say Asif is a habitual offender with nine pending cases, was riding a stolen motorcycle and remains wanted in three additional cases including attempted murder
