Delhi Police Apologize for Mistakenly Identifying Journalist as Suspect

A mobile-tracking operation led officers to question a journalist at a Noida petrol pump after a name-and-face match error

  • Officers traced the accused’s mobile phone to Sector 38 in Noida and confronted Saha and his wife after their names and facial features resembled those of the suspect.
  • Footage circulated online shows the couple being asked for identification before the police realized the error and offered an on-site apology.
  • No force or misbehavior occurred during the incident and the force has filed an internal note while deciding against any further action.
  • Prior to the apology, journalist Ayantika Pal posted on X alleging harassment and kidnapping by police, a claim later refuted by Delhi Police.
