Delhi Police and NCERT Seize 32,000 Pirated Textbooks in Ghaziabad Printing-Unit Raid

NCERT says a Delhi Police raid in Ghaziabad followed an earlier FIR to curb organised textbook piracy.

Overview

  • The Crime Branch conducted an intelligence-led operation on January 16 at Village Jawli, Loni, Ghaziabad, recovering about 32,000 counterfeit NCERT textbooks.
  • Officers found two printing machines, aluminium plates, paper rolls and ink at the site, signaling systematic, large-scale unauthorised production.
  • The action traces back to FIR No. 336/2025 registered on November 11, 2025 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Copyright Act, 1957.
  • NCERT Publication Division officials were present to verify pirated material, and the council warned that unauthorised printing, distribution or sale is a punishable offence.
  • NCERT urged students, parents and booksellers to use authorised sources and report suspected piracy, while separate parliamentary data highlight major staffing vacancies across the council.
