Delhi Opens Third 24/7 Aarambh Study Library in Dwarka

The opening is part of a ten-library plan launched in response to a deadly 2024 basement flooding that killed three civil service aspirants.

Overview

  • The Aarambh Library in Dwarka Sector 16-B began operations on July 28 with round-the-clock access divided into three 8-hour daily shifts at Rs 1,000 per month.
  • The air-conditioned facility accommodates around 200 students and offers high-speed Wi-Fi, secure lockers, CCTV surveillance, modular study tables and Cafe Vardaan.
  • Wellness amenities include an open-air gym, running track, outdoor seating and separate washrooms with an accessible toilet to support student health.
  • Delhi Development Authority will inaugurate two more branches in Vikaspuri and Rohini within 20 days as it works toward a network of ten Aarambh libraries citywide.
  • Spearheaded by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena with backing from Prime Minister Modi, the initiative repurposes underused community centres into safe, affordable study spaces.
