Delhi Opens One-Time Recognition Drive for Private Schools, Including in Non-Conforming Areas

  • The Directorate of Education portal is accepting applications from November 1 to November 30 for fresh recognition or extensions.
  • Recognition will be issued only after scrutiny against a 73-point pro forma and on-site verification of statutory compliance.
  • The exercise targets long-operating private unaided schools, including those in non-conforming areas, to place them under formal DoE oversight.
  • Government reimbursement for EWS, DG and CWSN admissions will be processed only if a school holds a valid recognition letter at the time of claim.
  • Failure to comply can attract penalties under the RTE Act and DSEAR, including a ₹1 lakh fine plus ₹10,000 per day for ongoing violations.
