Delhi Opens Automated Puzzle Parking at Punjabi Bagh, Pledges 100-Site Rollout

A model MCD-built facility targets congestion using fully automated stacking with dedicated SUV and sedan levels.

Overview

  • The Punjabi Bagh project cost about ₹31 crore, spans 3,000 sq. metres and accommodates 225 vehicles using a system that requires no human intervention after placement.
  • A second automated facility at Bharat Darshan Park has been launched with an estimated ₹31.65 crore budget over 1,500 sq. metres for 188 vehicles and a 10-year operations-and-maintenance plan.
  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed delivery of roughly 100 similar automated parking structures across Delhi within the next 18 months, including time for tendering and approvals.
  • The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is the implementing agency, and an official said the facilities’ façades will carry advertising to generate revenue for reinvestment in civic services.
  • The inauguration took place during Sewa Pakhwada and is intended to ease roadside parking conflicts and congestion near the cremation ground and adjoining attractions.
