Overview
- The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) was inaugurated on Oct 1, 2026 and will serve as a 24/7 hub to detect, analyse and coordinate action on urban pollution.
- The ICCC integrates AI-enabled CCTV, GPS tracking and automatic number-plate recognition to monitor more than 700 sites including construction projects larger than 500 sq m and spots of open burning.
- Field work is tied to the hub through GPS-tracked road sweepers, 78 sub-division teams and specialised ’Vayudoot’ teams whose body-camera footage will feed into the centre for verification.
- Enforcement tools include linking ANPR to the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ policy and an intelligent traffic management system that adapts signal timing to reduce vehicular emissions.
- The government also launched a citizen ‘Jan Suggestion’ portal for complaints and says the ICCC will use historical and live AQ data to prioritise actions, though independent verification of results has not been reported.
