Overview
- The plant at Ghogha Dairy near Narela will process 100 tonnes of wet waste daily to produce about 4 tonnes of compressed biogas, with an integrated CBG–CNG dispensing station, at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.
- Indraprastha Gas Limited built the three-acre facility and will operate it for 20 years.
- Municipal Commissioner Ashwani Kumar said additional biogas plants are planned at Ghazipur and Okhla.
- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called for similar plants in each of Delhi’s 70 assembly constituencies as part of a push for a garbage-free capital.
- The government also inaugurated a 25-kilowatt rooftop solar system in Rithala and announced that Amit Shah will launch a Rs 4,000 crore Yamuna rejuvenation programme on September 30.
