Delhi-NCR Air Quality Hits Season High at 391 With GRAP Stage 3 Still On Hold

Forecasters blame stagnant winds alongside stubble smoke for persistent haze across city hotspots.

Overview

  • CPCB’s Sameer app at 8 am showed a citywide AQI of 391, with 23 of 39 monitoring stations registering “severe” readings above 400.
  • Hotspots included Bawana (438), Jahangirpuri (436), Rohini (435) and Wazirpur (430), underscoring sharp intra-city disparities.
  • CAQM has not invoked GRAP Stage 3 despite thresholds being breached, even as Stage II measures continue in the capital and NCR.
  • IMD cited falling temperatures and weak winds trapping pollutants, while IITM estimated stubble burning contributed roughly 31–32% to PM2.5 and forecast very poor air to persist.
  • Schools suspended outdoor activities and the Delhi government announced staggered office hours; Noida (391), Ghaziabad (387), Greater Noida (366) and Gurugram (252) also recorded very poor to severe air.
