Overview
- CPCB data showed Delhi’s overall AQI around 391 on Sunday morning, with 22–24 of 39 monitoring stations in the ‘severe’ zone and local peaks at Bawana, Wazirpur and Rohini.
- After a review, the CAQM sub-committee kept GRAP at Stages I–II and did not invoke Stage III, even as the Supreme Court’s thresholds and earlier triggers were noted in coverage.
- IITM and the Decision Support System projected very poor conditions through November 9–11, estimating stubble burning at roughly 30–32% of PM2.5 and transport at about 15% as weak winds and cooler temperatures trapped pollutants.
- Delhi announced staggered office timings for government and MCD staff from November 15 to February 15 to ease traffic emissions, while schools curtailed outdoor activities and shifted assemblies indoors.
- Residents and activists protested at India Gate over hazardous air and several were detained for assembling without permission, as nearby Pakistan’s Punjab cities including Lahore also reported hazardous AQI and stepped-up enforcement.
