Delhi-NCR Activates GRAP Stage 3 as Air Quality Turns Severe

Calm, stagnant conditions trapped pollutants, pushing AQI to 425 to trigger immediate curbs.

Overview

  • The CAQM invoked Stage 3 restrictions across the NCR with immediate effect after Delhi’s average AQI jumped from 362 on Monday to 425 at 9 am Tuesday.
  • CPCB’s Sameer app showed most stations in the severe band, including Bawana at 462, Wazirpur at 460, and Mundka and Punjabi Bagh at 452.
  • Non-essential construction and demolition are halted, stone crushers and mining are shut, and BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers are barred in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Noida.
  • Primary classes up to Grade 5 shift to hybrid learning with online options, and private offices are advised to adopt work-from-home or hybrid arrangements to cut traffic emissions.
  • Essential public infrastructure works such as rail, metro, airports, defence, sanitation, and healthcare continue under strict dust and waste controls, with Stage 3 measures layered on top of Stages 1 and 2 until air quality improves.
