Delhi Metro, TiHAN–IIT Hyderabad Team Up on Autonomous Mobility R&D

The early-stage collaboration aims to convert lab research into deployable metro solutions through TiHAN testbeds under NM-ICPS support.

Overview

  • DMRC signed a memorandum of understanding on December 5 with TiHAN–IIT Hyderabad to co-develop next-generation autonomous mobility and navigation technologies.
  • The work targets driverless unmanned ground vehicles, robotics, intelligent transport systems, autonomous drones and human-free navigation designed for metro environments.
  • TiHAN brings autonomous navigation expertise, cyber-physical systems research and real-time data capabilities supported by aerial and terrestrial testbeds for realistic validation.
  • The initiative is backed by the Department of Science and Technology under the National Mission on Cyber-Physical Systems.
  • Officials said validated systems are expected to progress to pilot projects that could later be adapted across other metro networks.
