Overview
- DMRC signed a memorandum of understanding on December 5 with TiHAN–IIT Hyderabad to co-develop next-generation autonomous mobility and navigation technologies.
- The work targets driverless unmanned ground vehicles, robotics, intelligent transport systems, autonomous drones and human-free navigation designed for metro environments.
- TiHAN brings autonomous navigation expertise, cyber-physical systems research and real-time data capabilities supported by aerial and terrestrial testbeds for realistic validation.
- The initiative is backed by the Department of Science and Technology under the National Mission on Cyber-Physical Systems.
- Officials said validated systems are expected to progress to pilot projects that could later be adapted across other metro networks.
